Why Clovis Point?

The Clovis People were long considered the earliest inhabitants of North America. They lived approximately 13,000 years ago and are generally believed to have migrated to the New World from Siberia. In addition to opening an entirely “new market”, they brought with them far superior technology. The Clovis Point, their distinctively-shaped fluted spear point, enabled them to hunt mammoths and other large mammals very successfully. These points were also effective weapons against the large predators of the day. The Domebo Canyon Site, one of the best known archaeological sites associated with the Clovis People, is located in Caddo County, Oklahoma, not far from Fort Sill.
